You could build two small train lines, but since youre paid by the square, it can be far more lucrative to have your train line go: Coal mine 1 -> Plant 1 -> Coal mine 2 -> Plant 2. New players are likely to start using NewGRFs before they fully understand the game’s economy or advanced settings, and won’t know that they need to disable Inflation for many NewGRF games. It appears none of the presignals fit my needs: allow these sections to not let trains go face to face, block one another, and signal red when the next signal is red. With default settings, money in OpenTTD becomes meaningless so quickly that a new player is unlikely to miss inflation. I guess I need presignals, but presignals appear to be either entry- or exit-signals, and combo-signals are supposed to go in between those two. I made these sections long enough for a train to wait in, so another may pass from either direction. What I did, I made a whole bunch of sections as in the attached screenshot, at places between the stations. Now ofcourse, I need many trains on this line, and I don't want them to wait for one another. Just like long many-station lines in the real world. I'm trying to wrap my head around how to build proper signals for a line that is mostly single-track, has almost exclusively single-track stations, and reverses at the end of the line.
